World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace

The world is passing through very turbulent times. The global economic crisis continues to manifest newer and graver dangers almost every week. The similarities to the period just before the Second World War continue to be cited and it seems clear that events are moving the world at an unprecedented pace towards a horrific Third World War.

1. Read the following book – ‘World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace

2. Write a poem.

3. Email your poem to: PoetsForPeace@VoiceOfIslam.co.uk

Here’s the great part of this competition prize… Your poem will be heard by a global audience!

  1. Your recording will be played on the Voice of Islam (VOI) Digital Radio, thus reaching a huge global audience.
  2. Your poem will appear on the VOI Soundcloud, so saved for all time.
  3. You (and 3 other family & friends) will be invited to a formal event where you will have the opportunity to read your poem in person (or via online for oversea winners) in front of an audience. This event will take place in London and a complimentary dinner will be  served.
  4. You will receive a complimentary hard copy of the book ‘World Crisis and the Pathway to Peace’ when you attend the event.
  5. You and your guests will also be invited to a complimentary tour of the Voice of Islam digital radio studios in London.

We appreciate ‘everyone’s’ poetical talent, so we will try and play as many poems on future episodes of the ‘Poets for Peace’ show, regardless of whether you scored in the top 10 or not.

Entry Recordings

  • This competition is completely Free to take part in!
  • Poems must be written and recorded in English.
  • Start your recording by stating your name, age and the title of your poem.
  • Voice recordings must be clear and recordings with background noise may not be accepted.
  • Email us a pdf version and MP3 Audio version of your poem. Email PoetsForPeace@VoiceOfIslam.co.uk
  • Only one poem can be submitted per person.
  • Recording length should not exceed 3minutes duration.

Scoring

  • All entries will be judged by our panel of 3 judges.
  • Poems will be scored based on their relevance to the theme and age category.
  • The three age categories are: 15 and Under, 16 to 40, over 40.
  • The top 10 highest scoring poems from each category will be selected for the Prize.
  • The deadline for submitting poems is the 30th of September 2023.
  • Results will be posted on this page by 13th October 2023.
  • Submissions will be accepted from anywhere around the world.
